Thanksgiving, it is a magical time. In my house, it runs just slightly behind Christmas as the most enjoyable holiday.
With all the family gathering and food, I would not be me if I didn’t always make sure the kids had entertainment as well.
Though an enjoyable time, it can be a busy time, especially if you are the one hosting. This is why I look for easy (and inexpensive) activities for the kids.
Here is a list of Thanksgiving Day activities that I have tried or will try.
10 Easy and Fun Thanksgiving Day Kids Activities
1. Leaf Trees

4. Butcher Paper Table Cloth
Materials: Butcher paper, markers/crayons/chalk, or paint/paint brushes or paint sticks (easy and less mess), stickers.
- This butcher paper roll is 18 in x 100 ft.
- This no spill paint set will decrease any chances of accidental splatters, as well as make clean up easy. And it’s washable.
- These paint sticks are a nice and easy alternative to paint.
Tip: Cover the entire table or designate an area on the floor for the butcher paper. Tape it down.

5. Paper Plate Pumpkin
Materials: paper plate, glue, tissue paper, construction/printer paper, stick (real stick or popscicle stick).
We actually used the cardboard from a frozen pizza, as the base (instead of a paper plate). We ripped orange tissue paper into pieces and glued the pieces onto the cardboard. We drew a leaf shape on printer paper, cut it out, and colored it green. We colored a popsicle stick green. Then, glued the popsicle stick to the back of the cardboard. The paper leaf was glued to the popscicle stick.
6. Leaf Printing
Materials: leaves (real or artificial), paint, paint brush, paper (cardstock for sturdiness).
Tip: paint the leaves, turn the leaves face/paint down, press firmly on the leaf, lift gently from paper.
7. Turkey Hat
Materials: craft feathers or feathers cut from paper, turkey cut out, googly eyes, glue. You can go this route or order premade materials to make it easy on yourself.
This turkey making kit comes with everything you need. Makes 24 turkeys.
