I am all about saving money. This has led to a love of repurposing. Naturally when I ran into a need for organization in my children’s playroom, I turned to my “trash to treasures” bin. With a 2 year old, I can easily accumulate empty boxes from pull ups or bulk wipes. You know those cute baskets and bins from your local high end furniture store? Well as cute as they are, I do not want to spend money on the number of baskets I need.

With that, I put my crafty mind in motion. With the following supplies, I was able to make chic organization bins for all those “not so played with, must have” toys.

Here’s what I used:

  • Empty boxes-same size, or varying, whatever you need
  • decorative covering-I used decorative adhesive shelf covering that I found at the Dollar Store
  • scissors
  • labels or tags-I found a few self adhesive labels in the discount bin at Michaels (for $.75)

I removed all the top flaps from the boxes. I measured each side of the box and cut the shelving adhesive to size. The adhesive can be tricky. I recommend peeling the backing only partly and attach the “sticky” side to the box surface. Slowly, pull the backing away from the shelf paper, as you smooth it on to the box surface. Place your labels/tags on the front. I used a paint pen to write on the labels.

Here is the finished result:

I labeled each box: “blocks”, “stuffed animals”, “musical instruments”, etc. It makes clean up smooth, as everything has a place. The room remains neat and clean, which makes mama happy.

If you guys have any budget storage ideas, please share. Mother to Mother, we need each other. Until next time….XOXO.
